How do I get a static IP address on NBN?

An IP (Internet Protocol) address is a unique ID number that every device using the internet gets (like a phone number). Your modem’s IP address is what lets it communicate on the internet.

There are two main types of IP addresses - 'Dynamic' and 'Static'. As standard, our NBN services utilize dynamic IP addresses and CGNAT (Carrier-Grade Network Address Translation).

What's the difference between them?
A dynamic IP address is given to your modem every time you connect to the internet. It can change each time.

On the other hand, a static IP address is a fixed address just for you. Like a phone number, it stays with you for as long as you keep the service active.

Do I need a static IP address? What are the benefits?
Most home internet users do not need a static IP address. You may, however, have special requirements for your IP address to remain the same. For example, you or others may require remote access to your home network or devices from anywhere in the world. Security cameras, for example, can often require a consistent IP address.

How do I get a static IP address?
You can add a static IP address to your service for $5 a month. To order, please contact our modifications team using the below details.
